The scheduled overhaul must be carried out by a professional maintenance technician. It consists of a series of technical interventions carried out periodically to keep the efficiency of the extinguisher constant over time through the following checks:

a) Internal examination of the fire extinguisher to verify the state of conservation

b) Examination and functional check of all parts

c) Checking all passage sections of the auxiliary gas, if present, and of the extinguishing agent, in particular of the suction pipe, hoses, fittings and nozzles, to verify that they are free from encrustations, blockages and sedimentation.

d) Checking the axle and wheels for wheeled fire extinguishers

e) Restoration of surface protections if damaged

f) Replacement of the safety valve if present

g) Replacement of the extinguishing agent

h) Replacement of gaskets

i) Replacement of the dispensing valve for carbon dioxide fire extinguishers

j) Reassembly of the fire extinguisher in perfect working order

All spare parts and extinguishing agents used must be original or others declared equivalent by the manufacturer of the extinguisher. The replacement of the extinguishing agent must be carried out with the periodicity declared by the manufacturer and, in any case, no greater than that established by law.

The date of the inspection (month/year) and the name of the company which carried it out must be indelibly marked both inside and outside the fire extinguisher. It is forbidden to punch this date on the tanks or on parts subject to pressure.
